Mini TV Review – War Of The Worlds (Season 3)

Recently I have been watching the third season of War of the Worlds; and it was pretty good! Created by Howard Overman, and starring Gabriel Byrne, Léa Drucker, and Pearl Chanda; War of the Worlds season 3 continues the loose adaptation of the novel of the same name by H. G. Wells. Carrying on from the events of the previous season; life has seemingly returned to normal, in a time before the aliens arrived; but everyone on planet earth is seeing visions, of things they have done, but can’t remember doing! Season 2 of War of the Worlds was rather hampered down by one story, of the romance between two characters, which was supposed to come across as something both sweet and near impossible. However, this story was never going to work, as whilst Daisy Edgar-Jones‘s character was one of the shows highlights, the love interest (Mathieu Torloting) was an unsympathetic psychopath, you were never going to love in a million billion years! Well, thankfully that story was nowhere to be seen in season 3! Whilst it is sad that Jones is no where to be seen, this season allowed more breathing space to introduce new characters, whilst allow the return of others. In particular it allowed for more development of Zoe (Chanda), who was a small supporter in the previous season, but in this season, became a really magnetic leading character. But best of all, was that this season returned the spice that made the first season so addictive; it being purposefully ambiguous! It provides little teases, to keep you interested, but doesn’t reveal a lot, so you naturally want to watch the next episode, to find out more!
