Top 5 Films I Am Looking Forward To In 2024

Depending on when you read this; it’s either still 2023; in which case Happy New Year’s Eve, or we have finally crossed the starting line into 2024; in which case, Happy New Year!

Happy New Year

2023 started with a lot to be excited about, with several upcoming projects, and announced properties to feel excited for. But in the weeks leading up to the end of they year, I was really struggling to think of anything coming up in 2024, that I really wanted to see.

There have been a few niggles here and there, and wayward thoughts of potentials, but, it wasn’t until I sat down and had a good hard read of what was to come, before I could really see some light in the long dark tunnel that could be 2024. It could be a long light tunnel, but given how forgettable the release schedule has looked until this point, its more likely to look gloomy, with blink and you’ll miss them releases.

There are some interesting things though on the horizon, which include Monster Movies, Animation, Video Game Adaptations, and Spin-offs to enjoy, and that’s largely the list of things other than the Top 5 to consider a viewing. So, as per the norm, here are the things that might also be good to see this year:

Choices: I.S.S., Kung Fu Panda 4, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Ballerina, Twisters, Borderlands.

And so without further ado, here are The Top 5 Films I am Most Looking Forward to Seeing this Year, also known as 2024; Enjoy!

5. A Quiet Place: Day One – I saw both current films in the A Quiet Place series in late 2022, and I really enjoyed them, thought they were brilliant. Well, whilst we wait for number 3 to come along, we have a prequel to look forward to, due for release this year. Largely a different cast, except for Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from Part 2. The plot is largely under wraps right now, but part of me is hoping that as a prequel, it will try and show how the world came under threat from the ever listening monstrous creatures that now rule the world (in the film)!

4. Mickey 17 – Again, another film with a largely under wraps plot. On Wikipedia, the basic plot suggests the film might be about cloning, with the film being based on the book Mickey7, by Edward Ashton, and will be starring Robert Pattinson, alongside Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, amongst others. Now whilst this more original entry might not raise any eyebrows at first glance, the reason I am interested in it, is that it’s the latest film from Parasite director Bong Joon-ho. That is enough for me to get excited about it!

3. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the latest entry in the Planet of the Apes series, and is a sequel of sorts to War for the Planet of the Apes. Set 300 years later, the film is going to explore how the world has moved on from those early years, and how the Apes have progressed, and how humanity has regressed. It looks like it could be an interesting one, as I would like to see how it sets itself up for any future entries. Whether or not it will surpass War still needs to be seen, but it will have to be 100% beyond exceptional to even have a chance of topping War; the best film in the series to date!

IMDb

2. Joker: Folie à Deux – How can we not at least even mention the sequel to one of the best films in recent memory on a list of upcoming movies. Joker was a fantastic film, giving a new perspective on the Clown Prince of Gotham. Well, we now have a sequel to look forward to, but all evidence suggests that this one will be a musical to, with the role of Harley Quinn going to Lady Gaga. Not sure how this is going to pan out in the end, but it’s a new Joker Film, got to be excited for it simply existing!

IMDb

1. Deadpool 3 – How long has it been since Disney bought out 20th Century Fox, and they still haven’t given us a single X-Men film?! Well, Deadpool 3 is at least a good start. It’s hard to see how this one will pan out, given Disney’s child friendly approach to films, so whether or not it will be R Rated like the first two remains to be seen. But, finally, a new Deadpool film is on the way, and it will feature not just Wolverine, but also Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine; yellow spandex and all. It has all the potential to be a great one!
