Recently I have been reading Dealing With Depression: Trusting God through the Dark Times; and it was alright! Written by Sarah Collins, and Jayne Haynes, and published by Christian Focus; Dealing With Depression: Trusting God through the Dark Times is a Christian Medical Book which provides both knowledge, and examples of how the Christian life has helped some people to recover from Depression. The book starts off by pointing out that it’s not a self help book; choosing instead to provide knowledge instead. It’s a nice easy read, with small chapters, and breaks up the information from both a medical and Christian point of view, with these nice stories of how real people struggled with depression, and how they found ways of moving on from it. It’s these points where the book is at it’s best, providing a hopeful vision for the future, for other readers to hold onto in the hardest of times. And whilst it’s not the most in-depth read on the subject of Depression, it still provides a medical insight into the illness, along with some helpful suggestions of scripture to consider, for both those suffering with the illness, as well as for those who know someone who is!
