Mini TV Review – Mr. McMahon

Recently I have been watching Mr. McMahon on Netflix; and it was incredibly gripping! Directed by Chris Smith, and starring Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, and Dave Meltzer; Mr. McMahon is a documentary series, which highlights the record breaking highs, and lows achieved by the WWE under the reign of Vince McMahon. It’s hard to think of any other documentary series produced to date, on the topic of the history of Professioanl Wrestling, and WWE; as thorough as this. The series starts off by highlighting Vince’s troubled childhood days, to his introduction into the wrestling business owned by his father, to him owning the company. And from there we get a detailed history of the company’s meteoric rise, as it fought against the territory system, and introduced Hulk Hogan to the world. And from there, we get further in-depth stories, as the company faced challenges from WCW, the rise of the Attitude Era, to the modern day. But at the same time, the series highlighted the increasing number of controversies in the company, many of which are focussed squarely on Vince. And it all comes to this incredible finish, which highlights his more recent legal issues, whilst also questioning whether or not he has a positive, or negative legacy. It’s such a gripping documentary, that doesn’t hold back, and piles in a huge amount of information, filling up as much of the alloted time as possible. And you don’t want to look away, as though while it contains a whole lote more info than you may expect, it’s all perfectly paced, to give a terrific insight into the history of the WWE and professional wrestling, over the past 40+ years. Both the good, and the bad!
