I have just seen Transformers: Rise of the Beasts; and it was alright! Directed by Steven Caple Jr., and starring Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Dean Scott Vazquez; Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the seventh film in the Transformers film series, and a standalone sequel to Bumblebee. Primarily influenced by Transformers: Beast Wars; Rise of the Beasts sees the Autobots teaming up with the Maximals, to stop a Terrorcon called Scourge from taking a Transwarp Key for his master: Unicron! It’s a largely O…K experience. This film works hard to keep the Transformers to remaining as robots in disguise, rather than Michael Bay‘s view, that these Robots in Disguise, don’t stay in disguise for very long, thus making their transforming abilities largely irrelevant. It’s also quite nice how Megatron isn’t the be all and end all villain, choosing a cool new villain instead. But, it’s already a largely forgettable experience. It’s a film which relies on sympathetic but un-captivating humans, and captivating but un-sympathetic robots. Optimus Prime in particular is just so miserable-y irritating. The film though does contain a few nice little surprises, with a near Iron Giant worthy ending, and the Beast Transformers are largely very cool, but on the whole; it’s a relatively positive film, with a few drawbacks that make it a rather sadly forgettable experience!
