The first time anyone told me anything about this game, I had no real clue as to what it was. Then a few days later, I found this trailer, and immediately fell in love with it!
Released in 2009; Brütal Legend is an action-adventure game, that also features elements of real-time-strategy games, as well as hack and slash like gameplay. Created by Double Fine, the game is set in a fantasy like world, highly inspired by Heavy Metal Music.
The story follows a roadie voiced by Jack Black, who enters the world of Heavy Metal, and must save it from several dark opposing forces, each spawned within the genre’s of Heavy Metal music. The player must battle several foes, and make allies with characters voiced by Legends of the Genre, including Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, and Rob Halford.
The trailer begins with a brief introduction as to who the character of Eddie Riggs is, and quickly transports him into this world. Soon after this, we see the many sights of the games landscapes, and some of the grim monsters he will need to fight. From this point on; the trailer overall is something of a flash in a pan experience of brief clips of cutscenes, which are used to great comic timing, that creates an instant smile. And to cap it all off, it features the epic Dr. Feelgood by Mötley Crüe throughout it’s feature run time.
It’s a small, but still epic trailer, for a game that will make anyone a fan of Heavy Metal, instantly fall in love with it!
