Mini Video Game Review – Parkitect

Recently I have been playing Parkitect; and it was pretty good! Produced by Texel Raptor; Parkitect is a construction and management simulation game, where the player is tasked with building a theme park. Simillar in style to Rollercoaster Tycoon, you are given a plot of land, and some objectives to aim for. Usually these objectives request stuff like a park wide happiness level, or needing to have a certain number of guests in the park. Over time you can grow the park, by adding more rides and shops, in the hope of making money. It’s actually the second time I have played this game, the first time around (about 5 years ago), I found it a real struggle, particulalry in the financial department, as it seemed impossible to make any cash. But, that was more me going in thinking it would be like Rollercoaster Tycoon. Whilst it is a graphically more advance game than RCT, the gameplay side is a lot more complex, and you really need to take your time when you start out, by building occassionally, and growing a reputation, it’s only when everything truly mixes together positively, then you can start a rapid expansion plan. The game comes with a whole range of pre-built Rollercoasters too, so before you commit to building a custom designed one, you can pay upfront for one already pre made. Once everything finally gels together though, then the game becomes a rather relaxing experience, and one of the easiest games to whittle away the time when you have an hour of gaming time to spare!
