Little Big Workshop is a construction and management simulation game, where the player is tasked with running a small factory, producing novelty-like items! It was developed by Mirage Game Studios, and published by HandyGames, and originally released in 2019.
The game is set on top of a table, with items littered across it like pencils, paints, and even a bar of chocolate. But in the middle of all that, is a blue-print, and within that, the foundations of a little workshop, staffed by tiny troll like figures. It is upon this small patch of land, that the player needs to build a successful factory upon.
The game doesn’t really have much of a story, but it does feature a challenge, to build the best factory in the land, by having a higher revenue, and net worth than several other factories in the supposed vicinity. So players will need to provide work benches, and equipment for their employees to build things at, as well as make plans as to what products will look like, how they’re built, and most importantly, make money. As the game goes on, players will receive skill points to improve their factory, as well as earn better and more challenging contracts, plus will need to consider hiring more staff members, and increasing the size of the factory, to accomodate them all. But it’s always important to remember to provide break time facilities too.
The first few contracts are for pretty basic products. Things like buckets, and spades, or shovels, and toy ducks. More challenging contracts include things like furniture, BBQ kits, and catapults, and later on robots, and snowmobiles. These contracts don’t rquire a set number, so players can choose to build as many as they wish, providing they don’t break the bank in doing so, but should consider the size of the market, price increases, and whether or not the product goes completely out of fashion. The game though does provide some proper contracts, requestng a certain number of items, but within a certain time frame. These contracts do help players in advancing thier factories more than regular contracts do.
Little Big Workshop is quite an engrossing game. The first time I played it, it was more of a blur like experience, as I couldn’t see much point to it. But later plays have allowed me to enjoy it as a really engrossing, and frequently relaxing experience. It can be quite tense at times though, as you really grit your teeth wondering if you’ll survive, when the bank balance goes into a minus state, so you really do need to think ahead, and consider what will generate the most profit. The visual style is also very pleasing, as it’s detailed but simple, and it can be quite fun to put it on max speed, and see these little troll like figures, running around your factory making things.
It’s a nice and simple experience, but still has plenty of room to provide a real challenge!

I thoroughly enjoyed your review of Little Big Workshop. Your vivid description of the tabletop setting and the charming, troll-like workers truly captures the game’s unique aesthetic. I appreciate how you highlighted the balance between its relaxing gameplay and the strategic depth required to manage contracts and factory expansion. Your insights have piqued my interest, and I’m eager to dive into the game myself. Thank you for sharing such an engaging perspective!
