If You Could Build Your Own Jurassic Park: Which 10 Dinosaurs Would You Put In It?

Jurassic Park is one of the greatest films ever made; but imagine you got the chance to build your own theme park/zoo, filled with Dinosaurs. Which dinosaurs would you put in it?

Now over the years since thre release of Jurassic Park and all it’s sequels, there have been several Jurassic Park video games, with two or three (Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, and Jurassic World Evolution 1 and 2) giving you the opportunity to design and build your own theme park filled with Dinosaurs. There’s even been several other non Jurassic Park games, that have provided the same opportunity (digitally speaking) like Zoo Tycoon, and Prehistoric Kingdom, and even some Board Games like Dinosaur Island. So there are opportunities out there to produce the experience of building one.

But there is an issue with these games, with the issue being that the choices are truly limited. There is a limited number of species in each game. Now even if there was a 100+ dinosaur species in each game, that’s still a limit to choose from. But imagine if there was no such limit, you could have any known species in your park. You could even consider other prehistoric species as well if you wanted. Why not have some Marine Reptiles, or a Pterosaur, or perhaps even have a Woolly Mammoth, or even a Megalodon, the choice is yours.

So, wanting to be creative, as well as looking for some inspiration for a Blog post (and catching a brief glimpse of Jurassic Park whilst off work), I thought, why not ask myself the question? So, here are the 10 Dinosaurs/Extinct Species I would most like to put in a Jurassic park style attraction, if one to ever exist; Enjoy!

Wikipedia

10. Spinosaurus – One of the largest, if not the largest carnivore to have walked the Earth. Spinosaurus was an apex predator, but a largely misunderstood one, as fossils suggest it was a specialized predator, that chose what it ate based on the climate, and if it’s favourite food was plentiful, it would preferred to have eaten fish; although it was still probably best to stay well clear, even if fish were available!

9. Chalicotherium – The first of three things that aren’t actually Dinosaurs on this list, but allowing myself to mention other extinct species, meant I was therefore allowed to choose a few. Imagine a Gorilla, but one that’s much bigger, and eats like a Panda, and you would have Chalicotherium. A cool looking herbivore, with a nasty set of claws to defend itself, should anyone dare pick a fight with it!

8. Therizinosaurus – One of the strangest herbivores to have ever been discovered. The body of Therizinosaurus featured huge claws, plus walked up right and tall with the body of a carnivorous therapod, but it ate plants. Looking at videos and pictures of what Therizinosaurus may have looked like, makes it look like a giant Turkey, but a Turkey you wouldn’t to mess with, even if you were somehow bigger than it!

7. Carcharodontosaurus – I originally gave the 7th position to Iguanadon, as I was attempting to make a balanced park, but then decided it’s my park, and would much rather feature a Carcharodontosaurus. Much like Spinosaurus above, the term Super Predator was made for a creature like Carcharodontosaurus. First off, it was huge, one of the largest predators to walk the Earth, plus it had these interesting teeth. The teeth had serated edges, which made a single bite from this monster, Lethal!

Wikipedia

6. Muttaburrasaurus – An ornithopoda dinosaur which lived in Australia, Muttaburrasaurus was a large herbivore, with a very large, and strange nose which could produce an almost trumpet like sound. Who wouldn’t want to see that in action?!

Wikipedia

5. Torosaurus – Choosing a Triceratops feels like an obvious choice; where as Torosaurus has a slightlu more impressive  frill, and potentially longer horns, allowing for some potential entertainment, both from the vivid array of colours in the frill, as well as some good old fashioned jousting during mating season!

Wikipedia

4. Argentinosaurus – The currently disputed title holder of largest animal to ever walk the earth, putting Argentinasaurus in a zoo/park, would be like putting a Blue Whale in an Aquarium; a logistical nightmare, but a magnificent sight if accomplished, although in this regard, it might be best opening a nature reserve, as Argentinasaurus would require a lot of space!

3. Andrewsarchus – The second species of Mammal in my park; which much like Argentinasaurus above, is also a disputed title holder, of largest carnivourous land mammal to ever walk the earth. Andrewsarchus is quite a cool animal, with it’s dog like appearance, and large head, looks like the kind of thing you’d want to give a cuddle, but probably best not!

2. Liopleurodon – The only aquatic animal on this list, Liopleurodon is a species of marine reptile, and a member of the pliosaur family, notable for four large flippers, long head, but near to no neck or tail. The BBC series Walking with Dinosaurs suggested it could go to about 25 metres in length. Scientists don’t think so, but then how do they explain Predator X, so who knows, maybe it did?!

Wikipedia

1. TarbosaurusTyrannosaurus Rex is quite possibly the most famous Dinosaur of them all, and one of the best predators to have ever walked the Earth. So think of Tarbosaurus, as his T-Rex’s Dad. Should say it all really, don’t ever mess with T-Rex’s Dad!

Which species would you put in your own park?
