Movie Trailers – The Lake

Movie Trailers, are an effective way to sell movies, to movie goers. They show in a brief essence, what to expect from a movie, if you choose to see it. But every once in a while, they can be terribly deceitful!

It is no secret that I love Giant Monster Movies (or Kaiju if you prefer). I have afterall, published several posts over two seperate blogs, on the topic of my favourite movie series: Godzilla. But it’s not just Godzilla films, I like many monster movies. Other movies of the genre that I like that don’t feature Godzilla include:

And as a fan of this particular genre, I am always interested to find out, and watch others that I haven’t seen before. Which brings me neatly onto The Lake. The Lake is a monster movie from Thailand, which I first heard about last year, when it was mentioned on a Facebook group, and so I went looking for the trailer, and I liked what I saw.

The trailer is a cool montage, of chaotic scenes of violence, blended with elements of mystery, surrounding the existence of a very large creature, and the sudden appearance of an egg. It doesn’t take long for the monster to appear, followed by more scenes of action and destruction. It’s a really cool trailer, and I so desperately wanted to watch this film. So the following week, I did, and it was terrible!

I’m not going to go too in-depth with it. Basically the first three minutes are pretty awesome, but the rest of it is the purest definition of dreadful. And that’s why the trailer for The Lake is so deceitful.

It perfectly set up what looked like an awesome new Monster movie, but in fact sold me absolute garbage!
