Last night I saw Raise the Oof with John Shuttleworth at the Lancaster Grand Theatre; and it was pretty funny! Starring John Shuttleworth (Graham Fellows); Raise The Oof is his latest show, featuring songs old and new, as well as some interesting stories, encompassing his forty year career. The start of the show was a little hampered, as I thought he was just going to tell old material, with a joke I first heard in 2020 (plus the seat I was in was very uncomfortable), but then he turned it around very quickly. He told stories such as the last time he was angry, when someone opened a packet of Weetabix the wrong way, and then repaired it in a way, which he wished had appeared on an episode of The Repair Shop. The show also featured guest audio appearances from his wife Mary, and long-time manager Ken Worthington; who was celebrating a major anniversary of his own. But between all his stories, were some fun little songs, some new, like his rendition of a well known Nirvana song, but adapted to talk about the importance of cleaning paint brushes; to major classics like Pigeons in Flight!
