Yesterday I watched 65; and it was enjoyable! Directed by Scott Beck, and Bryan Woods, and starring Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, and Chloe Coleman; 65 is a science fiction film, about an astronaut who crash lands on Earth during the reign of the Dinosaurs! 65 features Jurassic Park levels of CGI, as well as some amazing world, wildlife, and shots of outerspace. The plot meanwhile, is pretty basic. I don’t know why it’s considered a science fiction film, when it’s more aimed towards an action audience. The only thing that makes it vaguely science ficition (other than the inclusion of Dinosaurs), is the high-tech gadgetry used by Adam Driver’s character. The plot is really only one step above Jurassic Park III. It’s about a couple of people trying to survive a world populated by Dinosaurs. And that’s really all there is to it. Granted, it gets bonus points putting a time limit in with the approaching asteroid, but it’s mostly just two people running away from Dinosaurs. I wouldn’t necessarilly call it borring however. Again the visuals are a real visual treat, and the growing bond between Driver and Greenblatt is pretty sweet. So yeah, it’s pretty average, and sadly it goes for the obvious and predictable than the clever; but it was still decently enjoyable!
