I have just been out to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps; and it was pretty enjoyable! Directed by Matt Shakman, and starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name; The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a superhero movie, where the famous team find themselves in a difficult position, when the planet devouring cosmic entity Galactus decides to pay a visit! The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a decently enjoyable movie, featuring some great chase, action, and fight scenes, as well some cool moments of drama, plus a tiny bit of cute comedy provided by H.E.R.B.I.E. the robot. It does though take time to get going, as it feels like the first twenty minutes is spoent setting up the world, rather than the narrative. It’s not until the Silver Surfer shows up, that something interesting begins to happen. This thankfully leads to the impressive debut of Galactus, who frequently steals the pic, with his awe-inspiring design and look. The film’s narrative though does seem to have a time lag in it, especially when it involves Galactus. For instance, he reaches the Moon, ready to take Earth, but then waits for about three days to allow the people of Earth the chance to prepare for a way to elude him. Also the ending is very predictable, and one of the last scenes is overly milked. But altogether it’s a pretty enjoyable movie!
