I have just been out to see Nobody 2; and it was really good! Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, and starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, and John Ortiz, Nobody 2 is an action thriller film, and sequel to Nobody. Sick of the fact that is consistently violent day job is causing a rift between him and his family, Hutch Mansell decides to take his family to a waterpark for a vacation, unaware that said waterpark is hiding some deadly serious criminal operations! One thing that does standout for Nobody 2 I found, is that there wasn’t any major laugh out loud moments. The first film had at least one, largely thanks to Christopher Lloyd secretly brandishing a shotgun. Here there’s no real laugh out loud moments, as you sort of expect them, so there’s no surprises. But I am not saying it’s not an entertaining film, it’s very delightful, and somewhat relaxing too. The first act does seem to throw away the ending to the previuous film, but once we get to the waterpark, the fun really begins. The fight scenes are magnificently choreographed, allowing room for both gruesome violence, as well as some comedic moments in each fight. The music is a strange collection of pop-like songs, which add a real level of energy and near silliness to each action scene. And the cast old and new are a great balance of despisable deviants, and herculean heroes. Much like it’s predecessor, Nobody 2 is very much an action film, but allows plenty of room for pleasurable, and even relaxing, light hearted entertainment (and some good old fashioned violence too)!
