Five Rock Bands To Listen To Whilst Waiting For A Takeaway

I don’t know if you’ve been in this situation, but imagine you’ve just ordered a takeaway, using a family member’s laptop, and you decide to keep the laptop open and switched on, as not only do you want to check the progress of the order and courier, but you also need a record of the delivery number. Well I just have!

Whilst I would normally use my phone or tablet, in this situation none were available (OK the tablet was, but it’s incredibly slow now). Anyway, I decided to keep the laptop open and switched on, largely so I had access to the delivery number. Meanwhile the TV was being watched by my parents, and I didn’t fancy watching/listening to a repeat of Father Brown, so I took my JBL pods out, plugged them into the laptop, and listened to some good old rock music. And having enjoyed the experience of listening to these bands before, during, and after my Burger King (I had the BBQ Angus Steakhouse), I thought I might share a list of them (plus one extra to make it up to five).

This is not a ranking list, it’s just a list of great bands to listen to in this situation (or another situation which warrants listening to them). So without further ado, here are Five Rock Bands To Listen To Whilst Waiting For A Takeaway (or another applicable situation); Enjoy!

5. Thin Lizzy – Whilst they were added on just for the purpose of this list, Thin Lizzy is in no way a second rate band. Ireland’s Greatest Rock Band had a very successful tenure, releasing a lot of great music, sometimes heavy, and sometimes sweet, all performed with the aid of two guitars, and one of music’s greatest vocalists (Phil Lynott). Their music carried passion, energy, adrenaline; and just about everything else you could possibly want!

4. Alice Cooper – Don’t feel like I really need to give a major introduction as to who Alice Cooper is, he’s one of the most recognizable artists in the world (surely?). The Godfather of Shock Rock is always a safe bet when you’re looking for something both heavy, and lively. Something to express both emotion, and the need to feel alive. His performance and videos feature a large amount of theatricality too, so you’re never bored watching anything he does!

3. Mötley Crüe – If you’re looking for something with a bit of life and energy (i.e. the need for speed); Mötley Crüe is a safe choice. Within just a few notes, their music has you hooked in, and you don’t want to turn away. It’s music that not only makes you feel good, but also alive, and almost like a drug (possibly supplied by Dr. Feelgood – song reference) you want more and more, a never want it to stop, for fear that things may go dull immediately when it does!

2. Girlschool – For those not in the know; Girlschool are an all female British rock band, and the longest running all-female rock band still active, having formed in 1978. They formed during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and are frequently associated with Motörhead, even releasing a collaboration album with them under the name Headgirl. Girlschool’s music can vary, but many of their classic pieces offer speed and and a heavy sound, plus had a great level of energy in their performances, and are definitely worth a listen to, if you’ve never heard them before!

Planet Radio

1. Kiss – It all started with a Kiss (well not really, it simply started with just listening to Kiss). Kiss was the first band I chose, largely because I didn’t get a real chance to hear them on the radio at work today due to a bad internet connection on an old PC. Kiss is a really good choice for this situation, especially if other people are watching something really boring on TV (like Father Brown). Kiss always deliver a spectacular performance, whether it be live, or in a music video. But it’s not just their performances that are alive, but their songs too. You can simply listen to them, and just feel alive with energy (which you can’t do watching a show like Father Brown)!

Can you think of any other bands that would be a good addition to this list, in this (or another applicable) situation?
