Mini Book Review – The Lighthouse

Recently I have been reading The Lighthouse; and it was really good! Written by Alex Bell, and published by Stripes Publishing; The Lighthouse is a young adult horror novel, about a couple of teenage girls, who spend their summer holiday on an island featuring a strange lighthouse, with a history of making people disappear! Whilst a horror novel, the book reads more like a well written mystery. There’s early drama on, as the two sisters, meet their dad’s new family, and also meet a strange boy, who has previous knowledge regarding the Lighthouse they are spending the summer living in. Strange things then begin to occur, until the moment comes when a key character disappears, and is forgotten about by all but one of the others. As the story develops it gets more and more intense, leading to a climactic finish. The Lighthouse was a really enjoyable book to read,, with plenty of twists and turns along the way, with some moments of heavy drama, and the most devious terrors too!
