Last Night I went to see Stevie Martin’s Clout tour, at The Dukes in Lancaster; and it was really, really good! Staring recent Taskmaster Legend, Stevie Martin, Clout is Martin’s first proper live tour, after making a name for herself as an online comedian (as well as both appearing on Taskmaster, and a Thorntons advert). The show was an interesting mix, featuring a few weird jokes and instances involving Moths, Lamps, Horses, and references to Disney movies. But in between those moments she also talked about her journey through comedy. These involved talking about her online presence, a few career lows in how she lost her job as a journalist thanks to Jude Law, and her first few attempts at stand-up comedy. And all the while she was assisted by a constantly funny barrage of images and videos provided by an easy to view screen. And then she wrapped it all up, by creating an earth shattering twist, as to what her show was about all along. It was a very weird, but terrific night of comedy. I want to watch it all over again now!
