Mini Video Game Review – Dispatch

Recently I have been playing Dispatch on the Nintendo Switch 2; and it was AWESOME! Developed by AdHoc Studio, and starring Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, and Erin Yvette; Dispatch is an episodic adventure game, set in a superhero workplace, where a former hero takes up the position of dispatching a rag tag group of former villains turned heroes to help with jobs around the city. Dispatch was interesting from start to finish. It was like playing The Wolf Among Us again, with it’s combination of action scenes, and interactive story-telling, but with the added bonus of an extra game mechanic. The fight sequences can be a bit blurry, and ocassionally difficult, especially earlier on when you’re still getting used to the control schemes. But the dispatch element of the game is really enjoyable, as you try to guide the correct superhero to the correct job. This element can make it feel like a small game, but the intricate detail in the storytelling really helps to prolong a very enjoyable experience. The characters are a lot of fun to discover too, and whilst the dialogue goes more towards comedy, there is still a real sense of seriousness to consider, as some actions may have major consequences down the line. It was such a thrilling experience, as it combined both gameplay and storytelling seamlessly, into a truly one-of-a-kind experience!
