Mini TV Review – Art Detectives

Recently I have been watching Art Detectives; and it’s really good! Created by Dan Gaster, Will Ing, and Paul Powell, and starring Stephen Moyer, Nina Singh, and Larry Lamb; Art Detectives is a crime drama TV series, which follows detectives in the Heritage Crime Unit, as they investigate crimes connected to the art world! I got into this show thanks to an accidental viewing, but I liked it enough to give it a proper go. And even though it’s only got six episodes, I can’t stop watching it! I have watched several episodes more than once! It’s a very relaxing show. It’s not too heavy in the drama department, so it’s not like you’re missing too much detail if you look away for a brief second. It’s something you can watch, whilst easily doing another task (for instance, I have been watching it whilst assembling Lego sets). The two lead characters make a great team, and complement each other really well, but Nina Singh’s character stands out so well, because she is so easy to connect with, given that she has only just become a detective, and is new to the art world to. The show is simillar to shows like Rizzoli & Isles, Castle, and Numb3rs. It focusses in on a theme, and sticks with it. Plus the content of each episode is very anthological. Yes, there is a sub-plot which spans the whole series, but it’s not the be-all-and-end-all of the entire show. This is what makes it a relaxing show, as you don’t really need to binge watch it, or watch it from start to finish, you can watch it whenever and however you feel, and are always going to really enjoy it. I can’t wait for the second series!
