Yesterday I watched John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum; and it was pretty good! Directed by Chad Stahelski, and starring Keanu Reeves, Mark Dacascos, and Asia Kate Dillon; John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is the third film in the John Wick film series, which this time see John Wick on the run when he is made ‘Excommunicado’ for breaking a major rule. Its a pretty engrossing movie, featuring the same great fight scenes as the previous entry, with lots of different styles on show. The choreography is both brutal, and blisteringly captivating, plus whoever orchestrated that fight scenes with Halle Berry ordering the dogs around automatically deserves an Oscar in all applicable categories. Much like the previous entry too, the film weaves in additional and surprising support cast members such as Jason Mantzoukas, Anjelica Huston, and Yayan Ruhian; as well as allowing some more air time for previously introduced talent like Laurence Fishburne, and Ian McShane. But for all it’s good points it does have some little niggles. Firstly the plot feels non-existent for the first third of the film, and once one is properly introduced it is hard to follow. Some of the language is rather challenging to understand to, and if it has been a few years since you saw the first film, then some of the plot points are even harder to keep up with, as you try to understand how it all got here in the first place. But, it’s still a very enjoyable film, with some cool comedic moments too, from some of the almost comical fight scenes, to a moment where Reeves and Lance Reddick casually walk into the basement to select some alternate weaponry!
