Recently I have been reading The Fall of Five; and it was alright! Written by Pittacus Lore, and published by Penguin; The Fall of Five is the fourth book in the Lorien Legacies series, which sees our heroes go in search of the last remaining member of their group. The Fall of Five is an interesting one in construction, as it features a good number of mini chapters, which are a nice welcome addition to the series. The combat sequences are still a little blurry and confusing, but not as much as in previous books. The story is more drama based this time around though, as it’s more focused on the relationships between the different characters, rather than it being about the journey and fight of the story. It also features the return of two major characters in Sam and Sarah, which really do help to get the series back on track. This side to drama though does have it’s pitfalls, as some moments don’t really lead anywhere, and the whole social dynamic can be a bit dull and relatively uninteresting. It does though have it’s heartwarming moments, plus the final few chapters are pretty exciting too!
