Today I went to see Flow; and it was magnificently wonderful! Directed by Gints Zilbalodis; Flow is a Latvian animated movie, featuring zero dialogue, which tells the story of a Cat, who joins up with a Capybara, a Labrador, a Ring-Tailed Lemur, and a Secretarybird, as they try to survive a seemingly post-apocalyptic event! A beutifully crafted animated movie, set in a mysterious world, which you can’t help but wonder if it’s referring to an actual event, as the world suddenly begins to flood. From this point on, it becomes rather reminiscent of the Eastern Europe folk tale: Fool of the World and the Flying Ship. It does this by showing a story of how an innocent Cat, with the help of a Capybara and his boat, reach out and help other animals in trying to survive what’s happening. The film then gets increasingly mystical, as visions of a strange land begin to take shape in the landscape, whilst also seeing other animals, and the sight of a lost civilization. It’s a really nice film, featuring some moments of the purest joy, but to achieve these moments, it must feature some truly harrowing sad scenes, that will bring tears to the eyes, of even the steeliest cinema goer. But they almost always bring back a sense of refined and wonderful joy too!
Mini Film Review – Flow
As a younger person, I rarely watch movies without dialogue but this movie was amazing, it captured the most beautiful moments of friendship and hardship and was to me a very emotional film. I loved the storyline and how it continued to develop and get more intense, and the fact that all these different types of animals could be friends really was amusing and lovely. I couldn’t find any faults in this movie, it was a great movie and would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, intense storyline.

I got really sad towards the end, a it brought up my own feelings of loneliness, when it looks like the cat won’t get to see his new friends again. I don’t normally cry in films, but that moment really hit me.
