Mini TV Review – Chernobyl

Recently I have been watching Chernobyl; and it’s really good! Created by Craig Mazin, directed by Johan Renck, and starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, and Emily Watson; Chernobyl is a TV Miniseries from HBO which tells the story of the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster, and the events which followed. The series tells the tale over five episodes, and goes from how the events unfolded on the day of the disaster, to the subsequent clean-up operation, and investigation. The show is very detailed and doesn’t leave any stone unturned as it gives first hand accounts of the events, and how it affected the lives of the many who suffered from the accident. This involves a complete cavalcade of familiar faces playing the parts of several major players from the actual events. Chernobyl includes a deep and sophisticated level of science, whilst also providing a brutal window into the politics of the time. It’s constantly morphing from science, into a political crime thriller, whilst keeping in mind what began the story. Providing a glimpse into the lives of those affected as well as what happened, Chernobyl paints a very scary image, that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
