I have just watched My Neighbors The Yamadas; and it was alright! Directed by Isao Takahata; and starring Jim Belushi, Molly Shannon, and Daryl Sabara; My Neighbors the Yamadas is an animated movie from Studio Ghibli, which tells the stories and adventures of a family living in Japan. The art style is very interesting and also pretty fun; it’s like watching the sketches of an artist come to life straight off the page. The stories are usually quite funny, although the last few were pretty confusing. I also found it strange that the character of Nonoko Yamada is introduced and featured prominently at the start, but then disappears for more than half the film. It was an interesting watch on the whole; but it was hard to watch it without getting eye strain (I think my TV struggles with light or something, as I could barely make out any colour); so if you do plan to watch it, be prepared to mess around with your TV’s display options!
