Mini Video Game Review – Styx: Shards Of Darkness

Recently I have been playing Styx: Shards of Darkness; and it’s been pretty good! Developed by Cyanide; Styx: Shards of Darkness is a stealth game and a sequel to Styx: Master of Shadows. The game revolves around a talking Goblin in a world that hates Goblins, as he tries to steal a variety of high price items in several large fantasy settings. The story is a hard one to get into as it takes time to get going, and it’s easy to forget at times as you work through the many complex and large levels you need to proceed through. Some of the controls are a bit dodgy too, particularly swinging on ropes. But where the game struggles, it more than abundantly makes up for in it’s stealth mechanics. The games level of stealth options is fantastic, and there is no real rush to do things as the game really does allow you to work through the levels at your own pace. At first it felt like a game that I was really going to struggle with, but in time became one of the better stealth based games I have ever played! It also has some good tongue in cheek menu scenes when your character dies too!
