Mini Film Review – Parasite

I have just been out to see Parasite; and it was really, really, really good! Directed by Bong Joon Ho, and starring Kang-ho Song, So-dam Park, and Yeo-jeong Jo, Parasite is a South Korean film about a poor family who swindle their way into jobs for a rich family. Parasite is a very interesting film as it combines both comedy and drama and flips from one side to the other faster than the flip of a coin! The film follows a group of comedic characters, from where-in they become very tragic. It builds up concisely and gently, and all the while as an audience member you are looking for, or trying to predict when the whole con will unravel. But it doesn’t unravel in the way you think it will; it builds to a shocking and rather devious conclusion, one that you will not see coming. It features very simple, but clever, and effective comedy, but brings it all down to earth via some sinister and brutal revelations!
