Mini Film Review – The Taking Of Pelham 123

I have just watched The Taking of Pelham 123; and it was a rather fun watch! Directed by Tony Scott, and starring Denzel Washington, John Travolta, and John Turturro; The Taking of Pelham 123 is an action film based on the book of the same name by Morton Freedgood, where a train operations manager quickly becomes a negotiator when a New York City Subway train is taken over by criminals. The film has it’s issues; for a start some of the freeze frame action sequences can be very blurry and can create headache inducing moments. The film’s ending chase is rather unbelievable, and the film doesn’t have much of a satisfying ending for Washington’s character. Plus the film doesn’t paint a good picture of New York‘s police force! Despite these issues though, the film is a solid action flick. It features a cool soundtrack, the action is top notch, and the chemistry between Travolta and Washington is pure gold! So on the whole, a pretty decent action film!
