Recently I have been watching Zoo on Netflix; and it’s weirdly good! Based on the novel of the same name by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, and starring James Wolk, Kristen Connolly, and Nonso Anozie; Zoo is a TV series about what might happen if all the animals in the world decided to gang up on humanity. It’s a very weird idea which from the start can look rather ridiculous. The use of real life animals is better than the use of CGI, but as a result they all look and feel rather tame, and you have this niggling little thought in your head suggesting as much. The main cast are pretty good, and their setup is similar to The Strain, in the idea of people from all areas of life meeting and then going on a world saving adventure. The show’s setup is pretty weird, but the individual episodes are really engrossing, and can set-up ideas and suggestions that draw you in each episode (although the final episode did feel a bit rushed in, like it could have been saved for the next series). So, yeah, it’s a pretty weird show through and through, but that sort of makes it weirdly good!
