Recently I have been watching Neon Genesis Evangelion on Netflix; and it was Fantastic! Created by Hideaki Anno for Gainax, and starring Casey Mongillo, Carrie Keranen, and Stephanie McKeon; Neon Genesis Evangelion is an anime series about a group of children who become pilots for giant robot warriors called EVAS, who are trying to protect the Earth from beings simply known as Angels. It’s a very strange series from the outset as it tries to do things different from other shows of it’s kind; something it achieves magnificently! Yes, it’s a science fiction series about robots fighting monsters, but that’s not the main feature of every episode however! For the most part, it’s a teen drama series. It focuses on characters who are different from the mainstream, and feature issues which are more persistent in the real world. These become characters to love and cherish, while creating others to really loathe and despise. It makes you question who the real villains are, whilst creating heroes you genuinely care for. Ok, the last couple of episodes are a bit weak, and is not the satisfactory ending we deserve (leaving more questions than answers hanging in the air); but, all the other episodes are practically pure gold! It is easily one of the most interesting, and one of the most gripping; TV shows ever made!
