Recently I have been reading The Power of Six; and it was pretty good! Written by Pittacus Lore, and published by Penguin; The Power of Six is a science fiction book, and the second book in the Lorien Legacies series. Following on from I Am Number Four, the story continues where the first book concluded, following John Smith, Sam and Six as they travel across America, whilst also following the exploits of another child in Spain. It was a fun read, and easy to pick-up from where the first book ended, whilst still providing some surprises and moments of intense drama. It also featured some spectacular moments, which reminded me of scenes from X-Men: The Last Stand. However, where the book faltered was in telling parallel stories. Not necessarily a bad thing as it was able to tell more of what Four and the group get up to, but the story of the new girl in Spain is far more interesting, and I would have preferred it, if she took more of the focus in the book, with the other group’s story really being more of a footnote. Despite these issue though, it was still a really enjoyable read!
