Back in 2012, I started to get into the classic Samurai films of Akira Kurosawa. The first one I saw was the magnificent Seven Samurai, and since then have watched others including Rashomon, Ran and Throne of Blood. About the same time, I saw Seven Samurai though, I had watched another Samurai film. Continue reading “13 Assassins”
Pom Poko
I got my first taste of the works of Studio Ghibli in 2014 when I saw The Wind Rises. It was a film I rather enjoyed and put it in my top 10 films of that year. Then in 2015 I watched My Neighbor Totoro and since then began to watch more and more Studio Ghibli films. I have not seen them all – yet! – but I have seen many of their classics including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Kiki’s Delivery Service. But my absolute favourite to date is Pom Poko. Spaceman – Babylon Zoo
It was a fun song which featured an infectious lyric through a metallic voice. It gained popularity thanks to it featuring in a trouser advert. Back then I was just a child, and never heard the full thing until many years later. Continue reading “Spaceman – Babylon Zoo”
The Gigan Soundtrack
Godzilla vs. Gigan is a Japanese Giant Monster Movie released in 1972 and the 12th film in the Godzilla series. Much like other Godzilla film’s released in the 1970’s, the film was made on a low-budget and used a lot of stock footage from previous films to make up some of the film. One key use of stock however is entirely unique to this film: The Soundtrack. In fact, if this piece of stock wasn’t used, we may never have heard one of the most memorable tracks in the entire series. Continue reading “The Gigan Soundtrack”

Top 3 Candidates To Win The Apprentice 2018
We are now (roughly) at the half-way point of this year’s series of The Apprentice and it has so far been something of a mixed series. The challenges have had some ups and downs and there hasn’t been much I feel in a way of stand out moments; except maybe for the one candidate actually needing a trip to the hospital for a legitimate injury. Continue reading “Top 3 Candidates To Win The Apprentice 2018”
Mini Film Review – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
It is soooo Funny! It works really well on all levels to make what is both a really good film but also a side-splitting comedy. Continue reading “Mini Film Review – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”
