After a horrific typhoon hits the coast of Japan, a giant egg is spotted out at sea. The local fishermen decide to sell it to a greedy businessman who wants to build a theme park around it. Then, two tiny fairies demand the return of the egg to their island, but the businessman refuses. After spotting a school of Bonito Fish, a pilot working for a fishing company experiences engine problems and makes an emergency landing at Iwato Island. His pilot friend, who also works for the fishing company; goes out to rescue him. Once there though, the two pilots make a horrifying discovery; as they spot the giant monster Godzilla, who was supposedly killed less than a year earlier. Since the first Godzilla‘s appearance in 1954; Japan has been attacked by many more giant monsters. In the late 1990’s, a new project is setup to create the ultimate weapon. By 2003, the project is complete, and a new giant robot called Kiryu is built and ready. In a series featuring 35+ films, Godzilla has fought at least one other giant monster in all but four-ish films. Among many other things, it’s one thing the series is well known for, that Godzilla will fight at least one other creature. On many occasions he has fought more than that, and in some cases has even partnered up with some too.
