I got my first taste of the works of Studio Ghibli in 2014 when I saw The Wind Rises. It was a film I rather enjoyed and put it in my top 10 films of that year. Then in 2015 I watched My Neighbor Totoro and since then began to watch more and more Studio Ghibli films. I have not seen them all – yet! – but I have seen many of their classics including Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Kiki’s Delivery Service. But my absolute favourite to date is Pom Poko. Godzilla vs. Gigan is a Japanese Giant Monster Movie released in 1972 and the 12th film in the Godzilla series. Much like other Godzilla film’s released in the 1970’s, the film was made on a low-budget and used a lot of stock footage from previous films to make up some of the film. One key use of stock however is entirely unique to this film: The Soundtrack. It’s a show based on a series of books by Bernard Cornwell about a British Soldier/Officer played by Sean Bean, who is picked up and risen through the ranks during the Napoleonic Wars. I have just been watching The Great Model Railway Challenge on Channel 5, and spotted a rather nice surprise in one of the contestants. In the Steampunk Team of railway modelers, I spotted non-other than a Robot Wars Legend. The team captain of one of the most memorable teams in Robot Wars history: the International Wreck Crew, responsible for a series of Robots named Plunderbird.
